The Aboriginal Family Law Service provides legal services for all Aboriginal people, including children, who have experienced family violence or sexual assault. This includes legal advocacy, casework, court support and representation in matters related to family violence and sexual assault. We cannot act for perpetrators of violence. The legal matters we assist with include Violence Restraining Orders (VRO’s), criminal injuries compensation, and family law such as child recovery orders and parenting plans. We also advocate on law reforms that support the wellbeing of Aboriginal victim survivors and help to prevent family violence and make our communities safer.
