Social Support

Spiritual, cultural and social wellbeing are integral to the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Aboriginal people experiencing family violence are often traumatised and facing a range of challenges in addition to the demands of their legal case. Our social workers provide culturally-safe and trauma-informed approaches to support work. They help clients through the demands of their legal processes, and also assist in developing strategies for social and emotional wellbeing.

Our support workers are based in Kalgoorlie and Geraldton, working with families and communities to promote healthy, violence free relationships.

The AFLS Social Support program is funded to June 2019 through the Australian Government’s Third Act Plan of the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010–2022.
